Here are your five most common questions about juicing, answered:
1. Will I lose weight on a juice cleanse? ⚖️
A juice cleanse is a powerful tool to put you on the path to sustained weight loss (sustained being the key word). Sure, some people are lighter on the scale immediately following their cleanse (less bloating and puffiness is a common result). But it’s the habits and mindfulness you create around the cleanse that make a difference over the long term.
If you want to lose weight, chances are you have some dietary or lifestyle choices that are holding you back. The break from your normal eating habits and the discipline required to complete the cleanse will help you: 🌿 Reset your boundaries around food and what you chose to eat (and what you can say No to.) 🌿 Recognise unhelpful emotional and social triggers relating to food and develop ways to address these.
🌿 Tune into your body’s cues and bring more mindfulness to your eating habits. Are you hungry? Or are you bored or eating out of habit? 🌿 Help you to establish the other habits that support sustained weight loss. For example, starting each day with a fresh celery juice. Or a regular walk during your lunch hour. Or not drinking any alcohol during the week.
Number on the scale aside, a cleanse can be a transformative process and we promise you, you will feel amazing.
2. Which cleanse should I choose? 🤔
We have a nifty quiz designed to answer this very question! It’ll give you recommendations based on your health goals and preferences.
Our best seller 🏆 is the Low Sugar Cleanse, which is designed to help you break those addictive sugar cravings, or for people who prefer less fruit in their juices. It also has two delish nut milks for extra protein and energy. For first-timers, we recommend the Classic Cleanse which is gentle and has lots of different ingredients for nutritional variety (23 in fact!)
3. How long should I cleanse for? ⌚
For a beginner, 1-3 days is recommended. For the more experienced, 5-7 days will give you more transformational results.
Remember, it’s what you do after the cleanse that will have the greatest impact on your health. So think about the changes you want to make and use the cleanse as a stepping stone to better health.
4. Will I get hungry (and can I eat during my cleanse)? 🥗
Everyone is different and most people tell us they are not hungry during their cleanse. Some people may feel a little hungry (or hangry) on Day One, but by Day Two/Three the body adapts and most no longer feel hungry.
We generally recommend not eating to get the most out of your cleanse. However if you really feel you need to eat (and sometimes you just do), honour your body! A cleanse is an exercise in discipline, not torture!
The best options are raw or lightly steamed veggies, some nuts or seeds, or a broth, soup or smoothie. As long as it's clean and free from processed/artificial ingredients.
If you're very active or have higher calorie needs (or maybe you just don’t want to miss out on dinner with the fam), you can always add a clean, wholefoods meal to your cleanse. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water between juices, and herbal teas when you need something warming or to fill the gaps between juices.
5. Should I exercise on a cleanse? 🎾
Yes! Getting the blood flowing and even a light sweat can help the detoxification process, but take it easy, especially if you have low energy. Yoga, walking and swimming are great options. Just keep it light and listen to your body, taking extra rest if you need it.
6. And one for luck: What the heck do I do with all the jars afterwards? 🫙
